A Fresh Start...

Today I'm starting a new journey down a path I've never taken before. I've worked in the IT field for over 20 years, in all manner of technical roles, and supporting countless computer products and systems. In all that time, I've never felt comfortable openly sharing my knowledge through public forums or blogs, always fearing the repercussions and verbal backlash from misspoken instruction or misstated guidance.

I feel it's time to change that mentality and break free from my comfort zone of sitting in the back row, silently utilizing the knowledge of other brilliant people in the field, and never passing on what I've learned. I want to be part of a greater community of IT analysts, admins, engineers, architects and the like, that I've come to consider my secondary family.

I'm also at a pinnacle point in my career where I've had opportunities to take point on various projects and truly let my light shine, developing many of my own solutions, tips, and tricks. Whether it be a simple snippet of code, written in such a way that simplifies a normally tedious or overbearing task, or developing a complete solution for automated software deployments or virtual environments (which has become my specialty over the last decade). So, my hope is that my knowledge is beneficial, even if for just one person.

The one thing I've always hated in my years on this earth, is the mentality that an alleged "expert" in any field, is always right or is the sole source of knowledge and can't learn something new; especially from a novice or the new guy on the team. Let me be clear...I DO NOT think that way! I do not consider myself an expert in any field, by any stretch of the imagination, and the one thing I will never stop doing is learning. Everyone has something to contribute, and as a good friend once told me, we should "never stop improving".

So, this blog will now serve as an open door to everything I've learned and will continue to improve upon moving forward. Many things I choose to share, may be the product of one or more colleagues or other experts in the field, and I will certainly respect and acknowledge that as necessary. I will make every effort to be as clear, concise, and accurate in my postings as I can. However, if I should falter and misstate something (trivial or not), I only ask that you as the reader are respectful enough of my years of experience, to kindly let me know, without berating my intelligence and weakening my resolve to continue in this effort.

If you've found your way to my little corner of the internet, then I would assume that you are in the IT industry or have a moderate degree of enthusiasm for IT-related content. If you're not, however, I still hope that you are able to find something useful to aid you in your path through this world built on computers and information technology.

Come take this journey with me so we can learn and grow together, and hopefully make the world a better place to live in! Enjoy!
